Which vegan protein bars are actually good? Vegan protein bar reviews

I love a protein bar as a snack on the go or to refuel after a workout. I’ve been testing out several options and here’s a compilation of my honest, unsponsored vegan protein bar reviews.

Tasting and rating vegan protein bars

This post is always a work in progress, being updated every time I try a new vegan protein bar.

Styrkr STYRKRTHON Bar

  • Flavours available: One - Chocolate Caramel Peanut

  • Protein & calories: 22g protein and 259kcal per bar

  • RRP: £34.99 for 12 bars

  • Personal rating: 9.5/10

I absolutely love how these bars taste, and they don’t cause me any digestive discomfort. Whilst I won’t get tired of this flavour, it would be awesome to have another option for variety.

Chia Charge Chia Seed Protein Crispy Bar

  • Flavours available: Three - Jaffa Cake, Salted Caramel, Cocoa

  • Protein & calories: 20.5 to 21.3g protein and 271 to 279kcal per bar depending on the flavour

  • RRP: £23.99 for 10 bars

  • Personal rating: 9/10

I tried this bar in salted caramel flavour and I really want to try the other ones. To be honest I was pleasantly surprised, I didn’t expect this bar to taste this good.

It looks so compact on the outside that I almost expected it to be too crunchy and hard to bite into. Turns out the texture is just perfect. This bar is also very filling and makes a great afternoon snack.

PROBAR Protein Bar

  • Flavours available: Six - Chocolate Brownie, Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Sea Salt Caramel, Mint Chocolate, Coffee Crunch

  • Protein & calories: 20g protein and 260 to 280kcal depending on the flavour

  • RRP: £17.20 for 6 bars

  • Personal rating: 3/10

A disappointment. I don’t know if I was unlucky with a bad batch but I tried the PB Chocolate and Cookie Dough flavours and both bars were so hard to bite into that I gave up finishing them.

Even chewing small chunks was nearly impossible. I also didn’t really enjoy the artificial taste, won’t be buying again.

Vivo Life Plant Protein Bar

  • Flavours available: Two - Cacao & Orange, Lemon & Cashew

  • Protein & calories: 16g protein, 308kcal per Cacao & Orange bar and 304kcal per Lemon & Cashew bar

  • RRP: £32.99 for 12 bars or get 15% off via this link!

  • Personal rating: 8/10

I bought some Lemon & Cashew bars, which taste amazing and have a lovely fudgy texture. They’re probably not the ones for you if you prefer a crunchy bite!

I only wish the protein content was higher for a 300kcal snack.

Misfits Plant-based Protein Bar

  • Flavours available: Ten at the time of writing this post, from Cookie Dough to Peanut Butter Fudge

  • Protein & calories: 14 to 15g protein and 170 - 200kcal per bar depending on the flavour.

  • RRP: £27.50 for 15 bars.

  • Personal rating: 8/10

I tried the Cookie Dough flavour which I really enjoyed. With a tasty vanilla cookie dough flavour paired with satisfyingly crunchy cocoa crispies, it’s like having the best of both worlds: the indulgent taste of a chocolate bar with the nutrition of a protein bar.

The Healthiest, Best-Tasting Vegan Protein Bars Worth Trying

The Healthiest, Best-Tasting Vegan Protein Bars Worth Trying If you’re a label reader like me, you’ll know that finding healthy vegan protein bars isn’t always easy.  Tons of non-dairy protein bars claim to be good for you (“only 1g of sugar”, “zero net carbs,” or “20g of plant protein!”). But many contain questionably healthy ingredients, like soy protein isolate, brown rice syrup, sugar alcohols, and seed oils. If you’re trying to avoid the junk in protein bars, then reading ingredient labels is a must. As part of developing that habit, knowing what to look for when determining what’s healthy and what’s not is crucial.  In this post, I share some pointers on how to weed out the bad stuff, and I also indulge you in the good stuff: The best vegan protein bars based on taste and nutrition. Ingredients To Avoid in Protein Bars Certain ingredients are common culprits in seemingly healthy protein bars. While some of these in...

9 Best Vegan Protein Bars in 2025, Tested & Reviewed

9 Best Vegan Protein Bars in 2025, Tested & Reviewed Bars can be a convenient way to help get enough protein as a vegan, but after trying a few pretty gross vegan protein bars, I set out to find the best ones. I was hoping to find at least one that had a  solid amount of protein , was  low in sugar ,  tasted good , and didn’t  cost too much . So I  spent months collecting and testing vegan protein bars that had good reviews or were recommended by other vegans. I did a similar thing to find the best vegan protein powder if you’re interested. I developed a testing process that was as fair as I could come up with to score each bar so that I could find the best overall bars, and I’ll show you pictures of the bars along with my thoughts here. How I (Fairly) Tested Each Bar After buying the bars, I needed a way to test them, ideally with as littl...
